Landscape Forms has announced that the Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation (HPARC) has installed Alcott pedestrian lights and Hawthorne path lights from the Concord collection, designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, in Hemisfair Park. The Concord collection embraces progress and new technologies, yet is rooted in American history and a view of the landscape as a place of respite and pleasure. The lighting scheme contributes to HPARC's goal of creating a safe, active, and walkable urban parks district and expresses a common design language throughout the park complementary to the Tower of the Americas, the landmark observation tower designed by Regional Modernist O'Neil Ford for the 1968 World's Fair.
"The Concord collection comes out of an approach to design developed over many years, which is informed by and learns from the past, but is contemporary in spirit," said RAMSA Partner Alexander P. Lamis.
"Warm light creates a sense of comfort that is inviting to our visitors," said HPARC Chief Executive Officer Andres Andujar. "It adds a sense of romance; whether guests are on a date or there to look at a beautiful setting, we want to engage their senses. The park's lighting engages the senses through the effect it has on the space."
Hemisfair Park is a 19-acre park on the site of the 1968 World's Fair in San Antonio, Texas. HPARC is a nonprofit organization established by the city of San Antonio in 2009.
