The University of Kentucky Dedicates new Gatton College of Business Building
The University of Kentucky dedicated the new Gatton College of Business and Economics building at a ceremony this morning.

The facility unites a 1963 building, a 1992 addition, and a new 65,000-square-foot classroom and events wing, all organized around a new 7,000-square-foot atrium, completing the work of three generations to create a state-of-the-art 226,000-square-foot center for business education at UK’s historic core.

Taking advantage of the site’s natural topography, the new primary entrance is on the second floor, facing UK’s main quadrangle. This ceremonial entry leads to an atrium – the school's living room – naturally lit by clerestory windows and featuring a variety of seating options, a café, and a monumental social stair. State-of-the-art technology-enabled classrooms, an advanced lecture hall, a dedicated real-time finance learning facility, and collaborative study spaces throughout the building emphasize the way business is conducted in the 21st century. The building’s interiors are expressed in a crisp contemporary style, with light natural wood, white walls, and cool metal finishes.

“Gatton College alumni, faculty, and students are impacting the Commonwealth and the world every day as business creators, leaders, and philanthropists, as well as through influential research that supports economic growth and sound business decision-making,” said David Blackwell, Dean of the Gatton College. “I’m proud to be building on the firm foundation that is the legacy of our former deans and college leadership, and look forward to our new facilities allowing us to educate more strong and principled business leaders for the Bluegrass and beyond.”

RAMSA Partners Robert A.M. Stern, Kevin M. Smith, and Graham S. Wyatt led the design. Ross Tarrant Architects served as Associate Architect.
