Randy M. Correll, AIA

Randy Correll joined Robert A.M. Stern Architects in 1983, and has been a partner in the firm since 2000.  He is responsible for the design of elegant residences across North America, from East Hampton and Martha’s Vineyard to Los Angeles, from the Midwest and Canada to the Caribbean.

His process of working collaboratively with clients and his gentle ability to translate the firm’s tradition of meticulous planning and sophistication of details to meet his clients’ desires have brought him a loyal following.  Many clients have commissioned Randy to design both their country houses and their city apartments, and his services often extend to the second generation of those clients.

Randy has also gained recognition for both his residential and institutional work in East Hampton, New York.  His knowledge of and sensitivity to historic architecture led to his appointment in 1992 as the project architect for the East Hampton Library, where he completed a renovation and addition. Another addition is currently on the boards.  He was the project architect for Guild Hall of East Hampton, where he oversaw the complete restoration of the 20,000-square-foot arts facility, including galleries, a theater, and education and administration facilities, completed to community acclaim in 2009 as evidenced by many favorable published reviews.

A unique design challenge was presented to Randy by the Town of East Hampton to devise a scheme for the adaptive reuse of six historically significant eighteenth- century vernacular houses and barns for a new 15,000-square-foot town hall complex.  Completed in 2010, this distinctive project, which involved moving the donated buildings to a new site, captured the attention of the local community and media including The New York Times Magazine and The Wall Street Journal.  It was selected as a finalist at the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona in 2010.  In 2011 the New York State chapter of the American Institute of Architects cited the project as “perhaps one of the best town halls in America.”

Randy’s projects have been published nationally in Architectural Record, The New York Times Magazine, and Luxe, and have been featured frequently in Architectural Digest, including cover stories in February 2007, October 2008, and October 2009.

Randy is a graduate of Columbia College (B.A. cum laude) and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture and Planning.
