Apartment in The Chatham
New York, New York, 2001
The architect's own apartment at the Chatham, situated on the west flank of the building, with views to a large private garden and beyond to the skyscrapers of Midtown, was inspired by Hollywood films of the 1930s and 1940s which captured an idealized New York of glamour and modern sophistication. In this setting, the dialogue between a recollected and rearranged architectural past and contemporary art seems to work.
RAMSA Partners Robert A.M. Stern and Roger Seifter led the design.
