The Harrison
This 327,000-square-foot building contains 132 condominiums ranging from studios to five bedrooms, 52 below-grade parking spaces, and 45,000 square feet of retail space, and is on target for LEED Silver certification. The building consists of two towers – the north tower primarily facing Amsterdam Avenue and the south tower primarily facing West 76th Street. The 14-story north tower and 19-story south tower are connected by the residential lobby which is accessed from West 76th Street.
The first floor houses retail space, the residential lobby, and entrances to the parking garage and loading dock. The second floor is completely occupied by Equinox Fitness Club which entrance is located on Amsterdam Avenue. The fourth floor includes residential units, and the residents' fitness lounge, children’s playroom, and party room.
The brick and sandstone facades are reminiscent of the legendary pre-war buildings that line the Upper West Side and the building's massing is inspired by the Romanesque style. The two-story base is sandstone and the above facades are brick with pre-cast accents. The facades are articulated with French balconies and colored friezes. At the top of both towers a series of very distinctive faceted volumes create great rooms for some of the units.
RAMSA Partners Robert A.M. Stern, Michael Jones, and Paul Whalen led the design.
