Artist Conversation at RAMSA’s One Bennett Park

Artist Conversation at RAMSA’s One Bennett Park

On Thursday June 27, from 6-8pm at One Bennett Park, artist Tomás Saraceno will join Michael Darling—James W. Alsdorf Chief Curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago—in conversation at an event sponsored by Cultured magazine. Saraceno will discuss his piece "Stillness in Motion – 7 Airborne Assemblies,” commissioned by Related Midwest and now installed in One Bennett Park’s condominium lobby.

One Bennett Park offers 279 rental apartments and 69 condominiums in a slender rectilinear tower with a limestone base and an asymmetrical crown that steps up toward the city as it favors views to Lake Michigan. RAMSA Partners Robert A.M. Stern and Daniel Lobitz led the design effort. GREC served as associate architect. Designed in tandem with the tower is Bennett Park, a formerly underutilized 1.7-acre green space now reimagined by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, to open in July 2019.

Tomás Saraceno is a contemporary artist from Argentina who is also a trained architect. He is best known for his large-scale interactive installations and floating sculptures and is the founder of an interdisciplinary studio in Berlin where designers, architects, anthropologists, biologists, engineers, art historians, curators, and musicians conduct research and produce collaborative works.

Michael Darling is the James W. Alsdorf Chief Curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and was previously the Jon and Mary Shirley Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Seattle Art Museum and Associate Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. Darling frequently serves as a panelist, lecturer, and guest curator on contemporary art and architecture.
