RAMSA Partners Graham Wyatt and Kevin Smith Present at SCUP Southern

On October 30 at the Society for College and University Planning's Southern Regional Conference, RAMSA Partners Graham Wyatt and Kevin Smith will present "Universities as Urban Participants: Drexel University's New Urban Community Connections," examining how Drexel University reversed the decades-long practice by urban universities of shutting out the surrounding city by establishing connections with the surrounding community through aggressive redevelopment of several sites in West Philadelphia. Presenting with RAMSA will be Alan Greenberger, head of the Department of Architecture, Design & Urbanism at Drexel University who, from 2009 through 2015, served as the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Director of Commerce for the City of Philadelphia.

RAMSA Partners Robert A.M. Stern, Graham Wyatt, and Kevin M. Smith led the design of two projects that contributed to Drexel's reconnection with its surroundings: Gerri C. LeBow Hall for the Bennett S. LeBow College of Business, completed in 2013; and Chestnut Square, an 861-bed student apartment complex developed by American Campus Communities.

The Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) is a community of higher education leaders who are responsible for the integration of planning on their campuses and the professionals who support them. SCUP’s membership of more than 5,100 individuals represents higher education institutions and private sector organizations around the world. Members represent the areas of campus planning, institutional planning, academic planning, finance and budgeting, administration, IT, and institutional research who are charged with planning for the future of colleges and universities and the success of their students. SCUP’s mission is to develop individual and organizational planning capacities to strengthen and transform institutions of higher education.
