RAMSA's Michael D. Jones to Lead AIANY Tour of LGBTQ Historic Sites

RAMSA's Michael D. Jones to Lead AIANY Tour of LGBTQ Historic Sites

On June 20, in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, AIA New York will host a walking tour of the Greenwich Village architecture and sites historically significant to the LGBTQ community, immediately followed by a presentation at the Center for Architecture entitled "CityPride: Tracing LGBTQ Spaces". The tour, led by Robert A.M. Stern Architects Partner Michael D. Jones and Benjamin Jones, also of Robert A.M. Stern Architects, will begin at the Stonewall Inn and stop at twenty-five other locales. The tour and the panel discussion, sponsored by Related and Robert A.M. Stern Architects, are part of a special CityPride series, an official partner event of WorldPride NYC | Stonewall 50.

Michael D. Jones, AIA, first joined Robert A.M. Stern Architects in 1988 and has been a Partner with the firm since 2008. He has been responsible for the design and management of institutional, commercial, and multifamily residential projects across the United States. He is co-author of the monograph City Living: Apartment Houses by Robert A.M. Stern Architects (2016).

Ben Jones is an architectural designer at Robert A.M. Stern Architects and an artist based in New York City. Fascinated by the psycho-social effects of the built environment and the impact that narrative spaces have on the human condition, both his design and artistic work are heavily based in historical contextualism and considerate of precedent.
