RAMSA Wins Two SARA PA Design Awards

RAMSA Wins Two SARA PA Design Awards
The Pennsylvania Council of the Society of American Registered Architects (SARA PA) announced that two RAMSA buildings—Gerri C. Lebow Hall and Chestnut Square, both at Drexel University in Philadelphia—were winners in SARA PA's 13th Annual Design Awards Program.

Gerri C. LeBow Hall, the new home for the Bennett S. LeBow College of Business, won SARA PA's Professional Gold Award for Design. The 12-story, 177,500-square-foot building forms a gateway to the Drexel University campus at the intersection of Woodland Walk and Market Street. The building's warm masonry and glass exterior reflects the emerging vocabulary of the next generation of Drexel buildings. Sophisticated solar shading devices allow maximum transparency between the inside and outside while supporting the building's high environmental aspirations; the building also includes a green roof and is Green Globe certified. Chestnut Square, recognized with a Professional Special Recognition Award for Design by SARA PA, is an 861-bed cast-stone clad student residential complex of two six-story blocks of duplexes over two floors of street-facing shops and a cast stone 18-story tower of flats. RAMSA Partners Robert A.M. Stern, Graham Wyatt, and Kevin Smith led the design for both projects; Voith & Mactavish Architects were the associate architects.
