Elon University Dedicates New Buildings at the McEwen School of Communications
Today Elon University dedicated Dwight C. Schar Hall, the Snow Family Grand Atrium, and the Steers Pavilion at the McEwen School of Communications, an expansion that provides a new entrance, student spaces, faculty offices, studios, and a 220-seat cinema. The 45,000-square-foot Schar Hall connects to the department’s newly renovated McEwen Building (1968) through the transparent double-height Snow Family Atrium, set at a campus arrival point as a gathering space for students and faculty. Elon's President, Leo M. Lambert, believes the new facilities will "make such a difference in the learning environment that [Elon] can provide" and pointed out that the buildings are "the new gateway" to Elon's historic campus. RAMSA partners Robert A.M. Stern, Kevin M. Smith, and Graham S. Wyatt led the design. LS3P Associates served as the associate architect for the project.
Our work for the School of Communications follows the completion of Elon's Inman Admissions Welcome Center (2016). The Richard W. Sankey Hall at the Love School of Business and the LaRose Student Commons are currently in the design phase.
