Two Fifty West 81ST Web Site Launches
Today Alchemy Properties launched the web site for the Robert A.M. Stern Architects-designed Two Fifty West 81ST, located at the southwest corner of 81st Street and Broadway in the heart of New York's Upper West Side. Developed by Alchemy Properties and Carlyle Group, the 18-story limestone-and-brick-clad building offers a collection of 31 two-to-five bedroom residences along with 6,000 square feet of amenities. The new site is here.

Two Fifty West 81ST takes inspiration from the pre-war architecture of its historic neighbors, with setback terraces and facades of stone-trimmed brick above a two-story base clad in rusticated limestone that emulates the scale of the building's low-rise neighbors and continues the pattern of shop fronts along Broadway. Above the denticulated cornice at the third floor, an English bond brick facade rises through the sixth floor, forming an entablature that reflects the proportion and scale of neighborhood buildings. Large picture windows suggest the varied disposition of rooms in the apartments. From the seventh floor to the building's crown, the facade is clad in light gray brick and features a notch carved into the southwest corner. The building rises to an asymmetrical crown, creating a presence on the skyline and taking advantage of the city's setback requirements to incorporate terraces offering generous outdoor space and Hudson River views from upper-floor apartments. Two common terraces accommodate dining, seating, and built-in barbeque areas.

The residential entrance is located away from the bustle of Broadway on West 81st Street. Bronze doors with decorative metal grilles and turned bronze posts welcome residents and visitors to an intimate oval-shaped lobby with wood paneled walls, a vaulted ceiling, and a stone fireplace. The building’s 6,000 square feet of amenities include a Library Lounge, a fitness center, a children’s playroom, a Golf Simulator Room, a multi-purpose sports court, and bicycle storage. There is also a state-of-the-art music recording and practice studio where residents can record music with professional audio equipment.

RAMSA Partners Robert A.M. Stern and Daniel Lobitz direct the design. Goldstein, Hill & West Architects serve as associate architect. For more information about the project, please click here.
