Chen-Huan Liao, Associate Partner, has been with Robert A.M. Stern Architects since 2005. Mr. Liao is currently supervising the office's work, including both master planning and building design, in China. His projects for Vanke includes Emerald Riverside Phase 2, an 80,000 m2 mixed-use residential development in Pudong Shanghai; Metropolis 79, an 80,000 m2 residential development in Hangzhou; and the Metropolitan, a 433,000 m2 residential and retail development at Gai Lan Creek in Chongqing. Mr. Liao's work for AVIC include Jinjiang Uptown, an 825,000 m2 commercial and residential mixed-use community in Jinjiang, and the Liangjiang New District Town Center, a mixed-use development located on a 25-acre site in Chongqing. Mr. Liao is serving as Project Manager for an 80,000 m2 residential development in downtown Shanghai.
Mr. Liao served as Project Architect for the New Africa Center on New York City's Museum Mile; for a model house in a residential community in Keswick, Virginia; and for a multifamily residential building in Taipei, Taiwan. He was Project Designer for the Hong Kong Golf & Tennis Academy; the Mandarin Oriental and Residence, a hotel and condominium tower in Atlanta, Georgia; and the Superior Ink Condominiums, a condominium apartment building and seven townhouses in New York City.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Liao worked with Cherico King Architect of New York City on residential and retail projects.
Mr. Liao received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Feng Chia University of Taichung City, Taiwan, and his Master of Science degree in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University. He is a registered architect in the State of New York. Mr. Liao is a LEED Accredited Professional, a member of the Congress of New Urbanism, the Forum + Institute for Urban Design, and the American Institute of Architects.
