N. Scott Johnson, AIA

Scott Johnson joined Robert A.M. Stern Architects in 2010 as Chief Operating Officer, with responsibilities including overall operational, business, financial, and strategic management of the firm.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Johnson was Chief Operating Officer at Richard Meier and Partners Architects LLP, responsible for all aspects of the firm's operations including staffing, project management, and operational budgets. He was the key liaison in business development and contract negotiations in connection with domestic and foreign projects, including work in Turkey, Japan, Poland, China, Israel, and Dubai. He was previously Director for Design and Construction at Cablevision Systems Corporation. Early in his career he worked for architectural firms including Eli Attia Architects, Kohn Pedersen Fox & Associates, and SOM. Mr. Johnson's earlier experiences at architecture firms led him to realize that a successful project depends not only on strong design but also on good management, which led to his interest in the business of architecture.

Mr. Johnson received his five-year Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University in 1985 and earned a Master of Science degree in Real Estate Development and Investment from New York University in 1994. He taught architectural design for several years as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the New York Institute of Technology. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Architectural League of New York.
