Sargent C. Gardiner, AIA

Sarge Gardiner has been with Robert A.M. Stern Architects since 2000 and has been a Partner in the firm since 2008. His urban planning experience includes a 65-acre master plan for a mixed-use project on the Las Vegas Strip; a 55-acre master plan for the Southeast Federal Center, a mixed-use project on the Anacostia River in Washington, DC; and a 2,400-acre master plan for the Harmony Cove Resort and Village in Trelawny, Jamaica. His architectural projects include the new Hotel and Private Residences at 30 Park Place, an 80-story tower in New York City, which combines a 175-key five-star Four Seasons hotel with 143 top-end condominium apartments; the Century, a new 850,000-square-foot luxury high-rise residential building under construction in Los Angeles; hotels for a resort in Hvar, Croatia; and apartment towers in New York City and Washington, DC. Mr. Gardiner was involved in all aspects of design from concept through construction documentation of the Zubiarte Retail and Leisure Center in Bilbao, Spain, a project which is a key element of the revitalization of the Bilbao waterfront. He is currently at work on the new Caruthers Biotechnology Building at the University of Colorado at Boulder; a master plan and residential community in Xiamen, China; and a 2.5 million-square-foot mixed-use development in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Prior to joining Robert A.M. Stern Architects, Mr. Gardiner worked for four years with The Rockwell Group in New York City, where he worked on a number of entertainment and retail projects as a Project Manager and Designer, including the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut; Olives Restaurant in New York City; The Meadowlands Mills Retail Center in northern New Jersey; Watersound Hotel in Seaside Florida; and the Lakeside Visitors Center at the Bronx Zoo, which won a New York City Arts Commission Award.

His work has been published in The New York Times, Architecture, and Architectural Record.

Mr. Gardiner received his Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University in 1991. In 1991, he was the recipient of a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark, to study urban design. Mr. Gardiner received a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995. Mr. Gardiner is a registered architect in the State of New York and a member of the American Institute of Architects. He serves on the Regional Plan Association's New Jersey Committee.
