Robert A.M. Stern to Speak at Yale School of Architecture Fall Lecture Series

On October 10, Robert A.M. Stern will deliver the lecture “A Time of Heroics: Paul Rudolph and Yale, 1958–1965,” at the Yale School of Architecture as part of the School’s Fall Lecture Series. Mr. Stern’s presentation will focus on Paul Rudolph’s tenure as Chairman of the Department of Architecture at Yale University's School of Art and Architecture from 1958 to 1965, a high point in his career as an educator and as an architect, addressing his efforts to assemble a faculty representing diverse viewpoints. Mr. Stern studied architecture at Yale under Rudolph from 1960 to 1965, during which time Rudolph realized his masterful Art and Architecture Building. As Dean of the Yale School of Architecture from 1998 to 2016, Stern supervised the renovation that led to its 2008 rededication as Rudolph Hall.

Robert A.M. Stern, the founder and senior partner in the firm of Robert A.M. Stern Architects of New York City received the 2017 Topaz Medallion, awarded jointly by the American Institute of Architects and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture in recognition of outstanding service to architectural education. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Mr. Stern has lectured extensively in the United States and abroad on both historical and contemporary topics in architecture.
