Description

Standing tall along the Hudson River, The Cortland is a 25-story residential building featuring 144 luxury condominiums and a series of penthouses in the vibrant West Chelsea neighborhood of New York City. Marked by its red brick tower, limestone base, and metal detailing, this 300-foot structure showcases superb craftsmanship, while paying homage to the area’s rich industrial heritage. Its metalwork takes cues from the High Line as well as the metal shops and foundries that once occupied the surrounding blocks. Rusticated stonework, where the building meets the sidewalk, weaves the Cortland into the rough-hewn texture of the area. And highly articulated red brickwork connects to its great neighbor, the London Terrace Gardens. Each brick was formed through an artisan kiln-fired production method that artfully applies sand to create irregular edges, resulting in bricks with unique shapes and historic character. Projecting and angled brickwork details are designed to play with variations in light throughout the day, giving the Cortland a lively, ever-changing appearance.

Inside the condominium units, which range from two to four bedrooms, dramatically proportioned ceilings and open layouts create a sense of spaciousness. In a nod to loft living, grand bay windows reminiscent of industrial factories saturate the residences with abundant light. Private terraces and Juliet balconies offer residents picturesque vistas of both the waterfront and the city. These inviting outdoor spaces, along with the high ceilings and expansive windows, connect residents with their surrounding West Chelsea neighborhood. Exquisitely crafted interiors designed by Olson Kundig and elevated amenities by Related combine RAMSA’s contextually sensitive design with the highest standards of modern living, creating an exceptional living experience at The Cortland.
