RAMSA’s Guest House and Cabin in New England Receives 2024 Palladio Award

Traditional Building Magazine has announced that RAMSA's Guest House and Cabin in New England—recent additions to a family compound that has evolved over the last decade—has been recognized with 2024 Palladio Award.

Set on a knoll at the far end of the property and overlooking a pond, the Guest House is inspired by traditional New England connected barns, in which the farmhouse and ancillary animal structures are appended semi-discretely and linearly to a main barn. The cabin is a free-standing structure set in a clearing of the woods with a simple massing of cedar board and batten siding that ties in with the vernacular architecture of the other structures on the site. Within eyeshot of the cabin, a small rubble stone shed modeled after a livestock shelter conceals mechanical equipment for the property. The design was led by Roger Seifter.

The Palladio Awards competition recognizes firms for outstanding work in traditional design. All awarded projects were judged to have enhanced the beauty and humane qualities of the built environment through creative interpretation and adaptation of classical and traditional design principles.
