Robert A.M. Stern Architects Selected to Plan South Bend's Library Block
The St. Joseph County Public Library announced today that Robert A.M. Stern Architects has been selected to develop a master plan for the County's Main Library Block in downtown South Bend, Indiana.

"The St. Joseph's County Public Library is excited to be teamed with one of the nation’s leading design firms for the critical phase of reimagining the library block to understand how various partners and components could work together to create a lively gathering place," said St. Joseph County Public Library Executive Director Debra Futa. "The 3.2-acre library block has the potential to host a variety of partners that would make the south end of the central business district a downtown destination."

Robert A.M. Stern Architects brings to the project experience designing main downtown libraries in large and small cities across the country, including Bangor, Maine; Nashville, Tennessee; Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Columbus, Georgia; Miami Beach, Jacksonville, and Clearwater Florida; Lakewood, Ohio; and Calabasas, California. In South Bend, the firm's Stayer Center for Executive Education at the University of Notre Dame was completed in 2013.

RAMSA will analyze possibilities for expanding South Bend's Main Library and redeveloping the rest of the library block. The completed master plan will address overall site and building organization, parking, and other issues. For more information about the St. Joseph County Public Library, please click here.
