On Wednesday, June 15th at 6:30PM, join Robert A. M. Stern and architectural historian Francis Morrone for an evening of conversation hosted by the Institute of Classical Architecture Art (ICAA). Morrone will talk to Stern about his recently published and much-anticipated memoir, Between Memory and Invention, which highlights the often-overlooked role that an architect’s life plays in shaping the buildings they produce. Replete with personal insights and humor, Stern’s candid account details his youthful efforts to redraw house plans in real estate ads, stories about the many mentors who have shaped his thinking, his struggle to launch an architecture practice in the 1970s amid a recession, and his more than half-century of practice as an architect, educator, and historian. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase.
