Join us on Wednesday, January 15, at 5:00 p.m. EST for a presentation by 2023 RAMSA Prize Recipients Rabei Javaid Bhatti and Karolina Piorko.
Rabei and Karolina traveled to Brazil in June to study eighteenth-century Barroco Mineiro architecture. Their research included an analysis of civic and religious buildings in several towns located along the Estrada Real in the southeastern region of the country. Through the use of photography and vibrant watercolor, they created a captivating catalogue of Brazil's distinct Baroque architecture.
Now in its ninth year, the RAMSA Prize is a travel and research grant awarded to individuals within the firm. The prize promotes explorations into a location’s sense of place and is intended to encourage RAMSA staff to engage in targeted, in-depth research into a city, town, or region in a way that can meaningfully inform design work. In addition, the prize allows staff to pursue personal interests as an extension of the firm’s research-based design principles.
