Ryan Companies and Arcadia Break Ground for Eleven in Minneapolis

Today Ryan Companies and project sponsor Luigi Bernardi of Arcadia LLC, broke ground on Eleven, the first project in Minneapolis designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects. Partners Robert A.M. Stern, Paul L. Whalen, Graham S. Wyatt, Melissa DelVecchio, and Johnny Cruz led the design effort.

The 41-story, 550-foot masonry tower, when completed, will be the tallest residential building in Minneapolis. Set in the city's riverside Mill District, the building will provide dramatic views of Downtown Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the Mississippi River. Eleven's large floor plates will accommodate no more than five units per floor, and will incorporate at least one generously-sized private terrace per apartment. Building amenities include a private motor court, a large landscaped rooftop deck with a 75-foot lap pool, an expansive fitness suite, multi-sport court, demonstration kitchen with dining, library, golf simulator, kids splash pad, and guest suites.

"It's always an act of optimism to begin to build, and my colleagues and I at Robert Stern Architects are grateful to have been entrusted with the responsibility of designing a new residential tower for this exceptional site in Minneapolis," Paul Whalen, FAIA, Partner at Robert A.M. Stern Architects said at the groundbreaking. "Our design is based on classical principles, but we're giving Eleven a style all its own. We were particularly inspired by the bold simplicity of the historic warehouse buildings along the Mississippi riverfront; like those iconic buildings, ours will be masonry, not glass. Our massing will combine a lower element that reflects the scale of the neighborhood urban fabric with a tower that will take our statement skyward—and offer fabulous views in all directions while marking the eastern edge of the reborn Minneapolis riverfront."

In operation since 1938, Ryan Companies is a Construction, Architecture, Engineering, Development, and Real Estate Management firm, providing services to the multi-family, mixed-use, and hospitality sectors across the United States.

Luigi Bernardi serves as president of real estate development company Arcadia LLC and investment company Aurora Investments. He began developing commercial real estate in 1987 in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area, focusing on multi-family residential development and medical-related facilities.
