Michael Kallay

Senior Associate

Michael Kallay, Senior Associate, joined Robert A.M. Stern Architects in 2019. Michael has 40 years of experience in the design and execution of high-profile architectural projects. Grounded in the Vitruvian principals of “Utilitas, Firmitas, Venustas”, he seeks to apply these concepts to progressive design that addresses both the problems and the aspirations of today’s world.

Prior to joining the team at RAMSA, Michael was responsible for the development of design and exterior envelope detailing at RSC Architects. As Vice President at Ronald Schmidt, he was responsible for implementation of QA/QC procedures and controls, conducted project milestone reviews, developed

exacting office standards, and implemented control procedures. Importantly, Michael has vast hands-on experience as Project Manager on numerous projects involving special conditions or significant challenges. His career also spans time at Perkins Eastman, Gruzen Samton LLP, and Fox & Fowle Architects (Now FX Collaborative)

In his current role as Senior Technical Advisor Michael leads RAMSA’s QA/QC Department and provides for quality assurance reviews at key project submission milestones. He provides technical support and assistance to design team in areas of code compliance, technical standards, constructability, and detailing. He assists in the evaluation of materials, methods and systems throughout the design and construction phases. Early involvement is stressed to identify key issues, confirm sustainability and energy conservation targets, coordination, and critical path concerns.

He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University and his M.S in Urban Design from Columbia University.
