Renaissance: Architecture and Placemaking in Central Harlem

Renaissance: Architecture and Placemaking in Central Harlem

Join us for a presentation by 2020 RAMSA Prize recipients Amanda Iglesias and Christopher Tritt, who will discuss their studies of Harlem landmarks to better understand the challenges and triumphs of Black placemaking in the United States. Their research included a week-long series of walks through Harlem focusing on typological themes such as religious buildings, cultural centers, and housing.

Now in its sixth year, the RAMSA Prize is awarded annually by the partners of Robert A.M. Stern Architects to staff to fund a research and travel fellowship exploring a location’s sense of place. For more information on the RAMSA Prize, visit www.ramsa.com/prize.
