On September 11, 2019, Robert A.M. Stern Architects Senior Associate Rosalind Tsang, along with Karen Lu of Snow Kreilich Architects, will moderate a Design Salon coinciding with this year's Women's Leadership Summit, to take place in Minneapolis. A collaboration between WIA New York and WIA Minneapolis, the Design Salon takes place one day before the start of the Summit, specifically to meet and engage with the host city's women architects. The informal event will give women design leaders a platform to share their work and to discuss various collective initiatives to elevate and promote women in design leadership roles. A discussion on topics pertinent to women's leadership in design will follow project presentations by Sara Lopergolo of Selldorf Architects, Vivian Lee of Richard Meier & Partners, Jennifer Yoos of VJAA, and Mary Springer of Snow Kreilich Architects.
AIA Women's Leadership Summit (WLS) brings together women architects and designers in a relaxed but professional environment where women contribute unique perspectives and facilitate conversations about women-specific challenges within the industry. The Summit aims to raise the profile of women in the profession; to explore new paths to leadership; to create a learning environment that supports the needs of multiple career stages; and to provide a space for women architects to learn from one another. The first WLS began as a grassroots effort to bring together women principals of architecture firms, women in leadership positions, and women architects moving into leadership roles within the industry. Today the Summit includes women across career stages and seeks to support all women in the profession.
