Gemma Kim takes an integrative approach to her work, bridging function and aesthetics to design spaces that are comfortable, inspiring, and represent her clients' values.
Gemma Kim has an eye for detail that strengthens her designs and ensures the entire design process—from concept through construction—is calibrated to support her clients' goals and realize their shared vision. She enjoys the unique challenges presented by every phase of a project, and takes pride in finding creative solutions that are both functional and beautiful. Working across the globe and across all project types, she is committed to designing spaces and places that are inspiring, contextually appropriate, and culturally respectful.
As partner, Gemma is instrumental in realizing many of the firm's luxury apartment buildings and mixed-use developments. Her work includes the limestone-clad New York City towers at 30 Park Place, which combines a five-star hotel and high-end condos, and 70 Vestry, which brings Tribeca's architectural character to the Hudson River. In Chicago, the 70-story masonry tower One Bennett Park returns a sense of traditional elegance to the city's skyline. Her current work includes thoughtful mix-used developments in Brooklyn and San Francisco, where she is working on a 33-building development that stitches together the architectural fabric of a neighborhood while respecting its traditional character.
Gemma's work has been published in Turbulence (New York: W.W. Norton, 2011), and exhibited at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair and the Architectural League of New York. She received her Master of Architecture degree from Yale University, where she was nominated for the H.I. Feldman Prize, and holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Syracuse University. She is a registered architect in the State of New York and a member of the American Institute of Architects.
