The Charles R. Jonas Federal Building and Courthouse was honored with a Philip Trammell Shutze Award, winning the category of Commercial/Civic/Institutional/Multifamily/Planning.
RAMSA's work modernized the existing historic courthouse, originally built in 1915, and doubled its size with a new, eight-story wing—thereby renewing its classical identity and prominence on the Charlotte skyline.
In 2007, the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art Southeast Chapter (ICAA Southeast) launched the Philip Trammell Shutze Awards, the first annual regional awards program to recognize practitioners of architecture, interior design, landscape design, and craftsmanship in the classical tradition within the Southeast region.
