Robert A.M. Stern Architects announces a collaboration with Where Women Made History, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Over a twelve-month pilot period, RAMSA will provide pro bono design, planning, and technical services to organizations that preserve sites of women's history.
The first project is a reimagining of the campus at Stone Quarry Art Park in Cazenovia, New York—the long-time home, studio, and multi-acre art park of innovative artist Dorothy Riester, who made significant contributions to the fields of historic preservation, land conservation, architecture, and design. The project team—led by women from the National Trust, Stone Quarry Art Park, and the Women’s Leadership Initiative at RAMSA—will build on Riester’s legacy by helping shape the park into a public place for the creative experimentation of art in conversation with the natural environment.
Where Women Made History is a manifestation of the National Trust’s commitment to tell a more full and equitable national story, with an objective to uncover, uplift, and preserve the stories and sites of women’s achievement nationwide and bring more relevance, diversity, and gender equality to America’s cultural heritage.
The Women’s Leadership Initiative at RAMSA seeks to develop and promote the advancement of women in the design profession through education, mentorship, and events and projects.
