Caitlin B. Getman, AIA

Associate Partner

Caitlin Getman approaches her work through the lens of public space, accessibility and inclusivity, preservation, and collaboration and mentorship. With a background in the performing arts, Caitlin places a strong emphasis on storytelling and the human experience through each phase of the design process. She approaches adaptive reuse by carrying the memory of each historic building forward, envisioning new uses that tie the past and future together. Her campus planning favors broad strategic moves with tactical interventions. In her dormitory work, Caitlin believes that student housing should be of the highest quality, as this is where students live and spend most of their time.

Caitlin has worked with leading academic and institutional clients across all of these typologies and more: at The Ohio State University, she served as a project architect for Campus Gateway and Arts District Precinct Plan, as well as the Department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts Building and the Timashev Family Music Building. In Texas, she is working on the ongoing Berry Street Development and on-campus student housing project for Texas Christian University. Caitlin has also acted as project architect for Villanova University’s The Commons, Performing Arts Center, Falvey Library at Vic Magitti Hall, and the 1,135-bed Lancaster Avenue student residences; the Conway School of Nursing & Gateway at the Catholic University of America; and the 2,300-bed South Fifth Dining and Residential Precinct Commons project at the University of Michigan. As project manager, she has overseen the Love School of Business Expansion at Elon University, the Northwestern University Central Campus Master Plan, and more. She is currently leading the South Portico building project for the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, the largest science museum in North America.

Caitlin is an active mentor and advocate, serving as at-large director of the Society of College and University Planning’s National Membership Committee from 2017 to 2020, then as the Chair from 2021 to 2024. She currently sits on the organization’s Leadership & Governance Committee and founded the Emerging Leader Program in 2022. She was selected as a "2020 Emerging Leader" by the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation. At RAMSA, Caitlin previously served as chair of the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) and is a Talent Lead for the firm, heading campus recruitment efforts across sixteen schools. She also directs the RAMSA Sketch Gallery, showcasing the staff’s hand-drawn work via rotating exhibitions throughout the year.
