Biography


Chen-Huan Liao, Partner at RAMSA, works across oceans-and cultures as he oversee the firm's planning and building design work in Asia. 

Chen-Huan is committed to enriching cities with projects that respond to their architectural and cultural context to improve people's lives. He enjoys every aspect of the design process, and understands that strong project management and sound financial planning are just as important as good design. His insight, understanding, and problem-solving make him an effective liaison between clients and colleagues of different cultures and backgrounds. Building consensus around design solutions that are culturally sensitive and authentic, Chen-Huan has guided large-scale projects in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Chongqing, as well as Hong Kong and Taipei. 

With expertise in planning and designing multifamily residential developments, Chen-Huan works on impactful projects across the US and Asia. One Museum Mile is a cultural and residential mixed-use development in New York City that's home to the Museum for African Art. Chen-Huan also worked on Xin Yi Tower, a 22-story residential building surrounded by Italianate gardens – the firm's first project in his hometown Taipei. Currently, he is working on large-scale residential developments across China, including Phoenix One in Qingdao and Lakeville V, a high-end multifamily development in a traditional residential district in Shanghai. 

Chen-Huan, AIA, shares his insight and expertise as a member of professional organizations dedicated to advancing urban design and architecture, including the Urban Land Institute, Congress for the New Urbanism, and Urban Design Forum. He is also the co-author of "Continuous Cities," a paper published by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat that outlines strategies for creating compelling, walkable social environments in large-scale planning projects. Chen-Huan is a Registered architect in the State of New York and LEED Accredited Professional.
