Superior Ink

Superior Ink offers 67 apartments and seven townhouses in a 15-story, 160,000-square-foot building on West Street in New York's Greenwich Village. Built on the site of the Superior Ink Factory, the project draws upon the neighborhood's industrial heritage. The tower faces the Hudson River with large expanses of glass and metal detailing inspired by the industrial aesthetic of nearby factory buildings. The building's rusticated limestone base, string courses, and cornices take their cues from neighboring classical buildings. 

Three major setbacks create a triple-scale reading. Expansive metal-framed windows face the Hudson River, while smaller punched windows at the podium relate to the townhouse scale of the surrounding side streets. 

On Bethune Street, seven townhouses present distinct fronts to the street. Sharing a common material palette, each is distinguished by its own stoop, entry, fenestration, and cornice, carrying forward the design language of the Village.
