The McEwen School of Communications sought to expand its program with contemporary facilities while preserving the traditional Georgian character of Elon’s campus and providing a recognizable and open entrance pavilion to mark an important corner of campus. The simple red-brick facades of Schar Hall and the Steers Pavilion are complemented by the double-height glassy Snow Family Atrium that serves as a campus gathering place, opening to a new entry plaza facing the town’s main street and offering views of the University’s historic oak grove and traditional quadrangle beyond.
The building is LEED Silver Certified.
