Description
This casually composed house commands views north across Vineyard Sound, with various elements grouped around a wind sheltered south facing courtyard overlooking a meadow, orchard, and pond restored after fifty years of neglect. In keeping with the effort to restore the land to its historic character, we carefully studied vernacular buildings on both the Vineyard and on Cape Cod to inform both the composition and detailing of the new house as well as the outbuildings housing guest and staff quarters and garage, which together with a stone pool pavilion, create a small camp or compound nestled between the main house and the beach.
