Partner Bina Bhattacharyya brings a cosmopolitan perspective and artistic sensibility to her work at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, and landscape design. She joined Robert A.M. Stern Architects in 2003 as a licensed architect, after designing cultural and entertainment buildings at OMA, hospitality projects and private residences at the Urban Design Group, and grade schools for Fred H. Thomas Associates.
With expertise in resort and hospitality design, high-end single-family homes, mixed-use master planning, museums, and residential community developments, Bina leads many of RAMSA’s most transformative international projects. Striving for timelessness, she researches the history and traditions of the places she builds, alongside the latest ideas and technologies, to find innovative solutions that enrich the way people live at every scale.
Domestically, Bina has worked on some of RAMSA’s most well-known and regarded projects including 15 Central Park West and 220 Central Park South, as well as apartment houses across New York and the Clarendon in Boston. That experience led to and influenced her international work, including Heart of Lake—the firm’s first project in China—a garden suburb in Xiamen that synthesizes classical western traditions and regional vernacular. In the growing city of Jinjiang, China, she led the design of AVIC Uptown, a mixed-use development delivering new neighborhoods to a changing urban landscape. St. George’s Mansion, a residential tower in Hong Kong, is setting a new standard for design and living in the Kadoorie Hill neighborhood. Bina’s ongoing projects include a sustainability-minded seaside resort, and a residential tower that integrates architecture and landscape to create a unique, holistic living experience.
Bina is committed to furthering her discipline and expanding her knowledge as an active member of several professional organizations, including the Urban Design Forum and the Congress for the New Urbanism. She plays a key role in advancing the Urban Land Institute's mission to shape the future of the built environment, and as a member of the ULI New York Chapter Housing Council. At RAMSA, Bina is making the firm stronger as co-founder and former chairperson of the Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Alliance (IDEA).
