Biography

For Associate Partner George de Brigard, architecture isn't just about designing buildings; it's about designing a process and building strong relationships.

At RAMSA, George focuses on projects for academic clients, often designing new physical spaces in parallel with the development of new institutional programs. He works effectively alongside administrators, faculty, and other campus stakeholders to identify their priorities to develop designs that express an institution's aspirations and embody its pedagogy. George values an interactive, hands-on design process that evaluates ideas against the client's needs, desires, and resources. In this role, he also has significant experience with public approvals processes.

Since joining RAMSA in 2006, George has served as a designer for prominent, large-scale academic projects, including the LEED Gold Wasserstein Hall, Caspersen Student Center, and Clinical Wing at Harvard Law School and the Courtyard Pavilions Project at Havard's John F. Kennedy School of Government. He also worked on two residential colleges at Yale University and Stephen A. Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

George is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the Municipal Art Society of New York. In RAMSA's offices, he oversees the RAMSA Traveling Fellowship, an annual prize that awards research into the continuity of architecture tradition through invention. He received an A.B. (magna cum laude) in American History and Literature from Harvard University and his Master of Architecture degree from Yale University, where he was honored with the American Institute of Architects Henry Adams Medal. George is a registered architect in the State of New York and a LEED Accredited professional.
