Description

This mountaintop resort on the outskirts of Chongqing will feature a retail village, a wedding chapel with a reception lawn, a hotel, and a conference center, and in future phases, hillside villas. Visitors arrive by car along the edge of the retail village, marked by a landscaped plaza and a gateway arch, centering the village and leading to a stair that climbs to a series of gardens, culminating in an oval lawn sized for large events. To the north, on axis with the lawn, is a wedding chapel conceived as a garden pavilion; to the south is an amphitheater.

The main 15,270 m² pedestrian retail street, which runs parallel to the main road, is composed of a variety of open spaces defined by discrete buildings to provide a clear but ever-changing shopping experience that will encourage repeat visits. Restaurants and bars open onto terraces with views to the valley below. As the entry drive loops through the site, it runs along the west side of the park to the entrance of the 22,800m² five-star hotel, which offers varied courtyards that serve as sheltered gardens that look out to the landscape.
